The Weekly Recap
Hey pals! So I completely did not do one of these last week (lol classic me). Between work, some freelance stuff, trying to read to decompress and my body trying to take me out, it just didn’t happen for me. But I’m back in the saddle and here with a combo 2 for 1 post of all the things I’ve been reading lately!
Thanks for stopping by, I missed ya.
Love at Frost Sight by Torie Jean (Free with KU)
Magical realism and a heavy dose of delicious self aware romance-reader satire make for a fun and deeply emotional read. An #ownvoices endometriosis rep, second chances, soul mates, caretaking, personal growth and FEELINGS. My goodness the feelings. Loved it.
The Princess and the Bruiser by Jess K Hardy (Free with KU)
I am a certified Jess K Hardy fan. Come as You Are was a standout 2022 read for me and diving into her Sci-Fi was just as perfect. This is a classic sensitive-grump bodyguard, marriage of protection, royal romance but make it space beings with telekinetic powers, oh and put it on a space cruiser known for its debauchery! Rax is an all-time book BF and like always I will now be reading the first two in the series (I always seem to start series totally out of order).
Blackstone Ranger Chief by Alicia Montgomery (Free with KU)
Look no shade to this book, but I needed something fast (novella), that was low stakes while I nursed a combo book hangover from two INCREDIBLE ARCs I had read. It was a little bland, and y’all why are we still using STD’s to describe STI’s (the book was published in 2020) we can do a little better, no?!?!?!
Hunter Avenged by N.J. Walters
Not gonna lie, I was sucked in by the cover, and didn’t realize this is like the 6th book in somewhat interconnected series, although it is marketed as a standalone. All that to be said, this was pretty great. Grumpy 1,500 year old norse guy and a equally as old but so smol, so very smol lady librarian angel. Lots of great action, protectiveness out the wahzoo, and deeply deeply horny for each other leads. Now I need to read Maccus / Morrigan’s love story.
The Fastball by Megan Cousins (eARC)
Lord do I love everything Megan writes. The Fastball, the next installment of her Wild Pitches series follows ex-army medic and pilot James and MLB team mental skills coach Amanda. THEY ARE PEN PALS YOU GUYS. AND THEY BOND OVER THEIR SHARED LOVE OF ROMANCE BOOKS. Plus emotional healing, home renos, and the dreamy Hutchinson family round out another BANGER from Cousins, who writes her romances for me (I swear). Check my full advance review here.
Forever Your Rogue by Erin Langston (eARC)
Taking a deep breath so I wont cry recapping my recap. I loved this book so much. A single mother fights some terrible in-laws for the rights to sole guardianship of her children. To make things seem more stable she enlists the “very worst rogue” she knows in Nathaniel Travers, (who could crack my back like a glow-stick). Peep my full advance review here.
Monopolove by Mia Heintzleman (eARC)
Rivals to lovers?! In this economy? A very cute and swoony romance between a Dr trying to rediscover himself and a game shop owner. Check my full advance review here.
Curated by Nellie Wilson (eARC)
This book changed my life. You know when you feel really seen and it kind of rocks your whole world? That my friends is what Curated did to me. Head on over here to see the full advance review.
Perfect Match by Eliza McLane (eARC)
Eliza McLane writes romances that make my heart so happy. Perfect Match, was well, perfect. Swoony, hot as hell, sweet, and sneakily emotional, this mighty novella packs a big punch. Head on over here to read the full advance review.
