October Month In Review

Well pals it’s month end and holy f*ck it’s almost the end of the YEAR. This month was rife with highs and lows (like most reading months), but I did make some good changes that prioritized keeping this hobby something that continues to bring me a serious amount of joy.

Also, y’all my other love affair: The Phillies. I could not be more proud of the season they’ve had and regardless of the outcome, they are forever my #1 best (beefy) boys.

Alright here’s the breakdown and totals:

Best of the month

Consider Me by Becka Mack (Free with KU)

An excellent contemporary sports romance with a god tier himbo. I loved this one, even thought it clocked in at around 500 pages. Funny, heartfelt, excellent sexual intimacy. HOWEVER minus 30pts for this author trying to tell me that Moose roam freely around North Vancouver (source born and raised vancouverite).

Play With Me by Becka Mack (Free with KU)

I clearly got over my moose adjacent issues with book one and DOVE into book two. I think I might have liked this one more? Or maybe I just love a friends to lovers arc? At some points I felt like it skewed into “no plot, just vibes” territory but regardless it was fluffy but enjoyable and the lack of moose was a joy.

Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison (Free with KU)

Okay I get all the hype. StellaLuka forever. I loved this fake dating, but its always been you friends to lovers small town romance. Y’all and the new updated covers (bazinga!). I loved how soft this book is and if acts of service is your love language, well buckle up because Luka is goals.

In The Weeds by B.K. Borison (Free with KU)

Not to be outdone BeckettEvie is also an iconic paring that I LOVED to much (maybe more than Lovelight?). I think because I absolutely married a Beckett (farm boy, stoic, animal rescuer), and maybe Mrs Borison *is* all about the acts of service because got damn Beckett is just god tier book boyfriend material.

Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison (Free with KU)

Ok, listen Beckett was great. Top 10. A certified dreamboat, but my good god Caleb Alvarez is IT. You know you love a book when you need a physical copy after you’ve only read it as an eBook. This entire series is so great. The love stories are soft, and romantic. They are sweet and funny and so deeply real. This one topped off what I consider a perfect trilogy. But CharlieNova? I am prepared to have my heart destroyed.

Charming Your Dad by Sarah Blue (Free with KU)

Holy sh*t I loved this kinky AF daddy demon paranormal romance.

Heartless by Elsie Silver (Free with KU)

Probably one of the best author finds of the year (for me) is Elsie Silver and Heartless (book 2 in her Chestnut Springs series) was SO freaking good. Grumpy single dad/sunshine-y nanny age gap small town romance. This also REALLY worked for me. Cade’s no nonsense caretaking and Willa’s laid back ease combined to make a super swoony and really delightful. I can’t wait for book 3.

A Lady’s Formula For Love by Elizabeth Everett

I don’t even know how I came find this one? Regardless, I am super happy I did. This was SWOONY AF, and really f*cking romantic. I clearly have a type and if your a big gruff guy who is  a caretaker type who gives his lady space to be herself, then sign me up, I’m yours. The suspense, plotting and romance are all woven together and in its output create something really magical and memorable.

Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean

The banter! The chemistry! The romance! This series is great and I have no idea why I always hold out on grabbing MacLean’s books?! We love a morally gray, touch her and die love interest.

Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean

Book 2 in the Bareknuckle Bastards series picks up after Wicked and the Wallflower and features some body diversity, and older MCs! Y’all these books were just freaking great, and I was so in love after reading the set I channeled that into creating alternate covers for the series. Click here to check them out.

Scott Under The Covers by Suzanne Enoch

Highlanders am I right?! I don’t think I’ve read anything from Enoch’s backlist, and if this book is any indication I will be grabbing more of her romances asap. Funny, emotional, sweet, swoony and just the right amount of physical intimacy. 10/10, no notes.
