The Weekly Recap
Y’all I’m unmotivated to contribute to the blog this week. I have no idea what’s come up but everything feels like a straight up slog. I also didn’t read a whole lot this week and that also made me feel bad about myself (lol can’t wait to unpack that in therapy next week) Maybe soon I’ll feel a little more myself? Let’s hope.
Ok here’s all the stuff (and things!) I read this week!
Flawless by Elsie Silver (Free with KU)
I think one of my romance twitter follows had posted about this, and seeing it on KU made it a no brainer to pick up. And you know what I regret nothing. Age gap, forced proximity, sports romance with a twist, with lots of caretaking if that’s your thing! Looking forward to the next book in the series, featuring the grumpy single dad Cade.
Icebreaker by Hannah Grace (Free with KU)
This was pitched to me as From Lukov with Love meets The Deal, which sounded pretty good to me. And that Leni illustrated cover is truly 10/10. Alas I think I might be in the minority based on the current goodreads ratings. I liked a lot of things about it (small moments and pockets, if you will). But as a whole this was LONG and could have moved a little faster in some spots. Oh and just to add to all the other things happening in this book, she drowns and almost dies? I think NA might not hit like it used to (as I inch closer to 40 every day).
Alpha’s Temptation by Renee Rose & Lee Savino
I wanted to read a shifter romance and this was an impulse mood purchase, and this came to me from my pals over on r/romancebooks on reddit. It was a steamy, quick read, but left me wanting a little more.
Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match by Sally Thorne
This came out on Tuesday of this week and you know what I really enjoyed it. The premise is a little wild (she’s Victor Frankenstein’s sister) and made me feel a little weird at some points, but the plot and mystery is compelling, and Thorne’s writing is pretty enjoyable for me. Some of Angelika’s dialog felt a skooch repetitive at times, but the connection and love story between Angelika and Will will melt hearts.
The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller
An infamous (and abused) woman tries to start over by restoring a house in 1880’s NYC, but she runs into some apparitions. This book was SO stinking great. I loved the paranormal aspect and Sam! What an absolute dream of a MMC. Lots of potential triggers so read with care, but if you like mysterious slash spooky historical romances, absolutely pick this one up.
