Reimagined Book Covers #1

I’m not sure I’ve shared much about my life outside of reading romance, not that anyone is clamouring to know more. However I am a designer by trade and every so often when my design brain can’t stop chewing on an idea, I am compelled to explore it.

Last week I binged the entire Bareknuckle Bastards series from one of my favourites: Sarah MacLean. The series, a set of swoony and deeply romantic historical romances, is set in Covent Garden. And follows three children connected by fate, and survived by sheer grit among some of the toughest streets and people of London. I loved the original covers and after a day in bed fighting a endo flare up, my brain somehow got stuck on the idea to reimagine them. Truly something no one asked for (nor do they need it), they are perfect and great.

I wanted to reduce the covers down to something less focused on a model or models and play with some of the elements and imagery of each book. All three are tied together through ice, and each get their own key feature. Hopefully I’ve done these books and characters proud. I loved this freaking series so much.

Without further ado, here’s my take on something a little different for covers on each of these straight up fantastic books…
