The Weekly Recap

Well its frickin’ bats season and, the Mariners have made the post season for the first time in 21 years (god bless Cal Raleigh). The Phillies however, are deciding to go right to the wire to see if they can end their post season drought. My poor nerves can’t take it. I read some good ones this week, and am COMMITTING to getting my ass in gear and get my ARCs read (famous last words?), pray for me.

A Wicked Game by Kate Bateman (eARC)

Book three in the ruthless rivals series was just a stinking DELIGHT. A pre war bet of three kisses is wagered for safe return, and good lord does this one get just the right amount of steamy. Fans of the series will love, check my full advance review here.

Saving Claire by Cameron Hart (Free with KU)

Caretaking is your k*nk, then look no further than this soft AF motorcycle club romance between a recently escaped abused cult survivor and ex-military hot guy. But, read with extreme care, lots of CW with this one.

Otterly Scorched by Tara Sivec (Free with KU)

This has been on my TBR since I read (and loved), Just My Type. And you know what this one is OK. Not as outstanding as JMT, but still deeply enjoyable and full of all the hallmarks of what I love about Tara’s romances. Plus animal sanctuaries.

Ivan by Sophie Lark (Free with KU)

Palate cleanser mafia romance squad come through! I liked that the FMC in this wasn’t the typical damsel in several distresses. She was a freaking assasin! I think this one was a little light (some things felt kind of glossed over), but it was exactly what I needed. Plus these two have this kind of 🥵 D/s dynamic. I dug it.

Consider Me by Becka Mack (Free with KU)

My internet pal Jeeves Reads Romance, has this on their best of list and very rarely are Jeeves and I on opposite ends of the ”liked this book spectrum”. And this one is (of course) no different. I loved it. I hadn’t ever read any of Macks backlist and thoroughly enjoyed her writing style AND how she writes her MMC’s. I am thrilled to have found this new Hockey Romance series and am VERY much looking forward to Garret’s book.

Securing Brenae by Susan Stoker

Extremely forgettable romantic suspense novella.

Lord Dashwood Missed Out by Tessa Dare

Extremely delightful (and very memorable) historical romance novella set in the same spindle cove universe. A woman has become famous for writing a scathing put down on her childhood crush (after he leaves to pursue cartography). They are thrust together in a carriage on a snowy night and need to work through what happened all those years ago. I love Tessa Dare.

The Footman and I by Valerie Bowman

I loved the premise of this (an Earl goes undercover as a footman to find a kind hearted lady), but felt let down by the execution, and there was NOT enough of a ending there. It was alright, but I wasn’t excited enough by the end to invest in the rest of the series (they are apparently slightly interconnected but not fully).
