Scoring with Sports Romance Hero's

Ooooh y’all, the athlete hero’s might be some of my ALL time favourite lead love interests in all of romancelandia. You think I’m joking but I have been stressing out trying to formulate a perfect list of sport romance book boyfriends that is critical enough, and also ensures there is enough room for everyone.

It really doesn’t seem to matter to me if they are hockey, football, baseball or soccer we just LOVE the way athletes approach their lives and how they chase, woo, and ultimately marry their chosen ones. Without further fanfare, here is my list of Sport Romance Book Boyfriends….

Søren “Ren” Bergman

Sport played: Professional Hockey

Oh Søren, you giant ginger marshmallow. Almost 11 months since first “meeting” Ren and I am still head over heels in love with our Shakespeare reading, soft heart having, hockey star being babe of a man. Why is he a great book boyfriend? Well he is going to love the sh*t out of you.

He will so deeply understand you, and create the space for you to live authentically without any conditions. You will revel in the feeling of deep comfort that comes with having his whole heart and soul as your own. Oh he’s also been pining after you for LITERAL YEARS so I mean he is top tier sh*t and I will fight anyone that thinks differently.

Eric ‘Brick’ Kramarov

Sport Played: Professional Boxer

This list would not (could not) be complete without Eric. He might be the most legitimately romantic guy on this list and definitely competes with Rhys as a words of affirmation fella, and DON’T we just FU*KING love him for it? Oh he also has a dog named after Walt Whitman, so I mean *fans self* you get it.

As a book boyfriend, Eric is a friggen dream. Sure you might have gotten off to a bit of a rocky start, but soon you’ll both realize that you’re legit, no foolin’ soul-mates. Oh and the man is not only is well read and insanely hot, he gives 👏 the 👏 best 👏 hugs.

Gray Grayson

Sport played: Collegiate and Professional Football

Y’all. Gray Grayson is the BB that starts out as your best friend. You connect on a deep level, full of witty banter, genuine fun and crazy chemistry. It might feel like a bad a idea to mess with a friendship like that, right? WRONG.

Friends to lovers are some of the deepest soul level connections out there. Gray is going to make you laugh, he will support you, love you and help you stand on your own two feet. You will not only love him, but you’ll like him too (what up parks fam?!). You’ll discover that sex is SO much better with someone you trust implicitly and who better to hug, uh, horizontally than your BFF Gray?!

Walker Rockwell

Sport played: Professional Baseball

Ah Walker. The perennial shy guy that comes across grumpy AF, but is really, very squishy hearted. You might think that this guy would be too much “work” and that’s where you might be wrong. Walker isn’t going to be the most open, happy-go-lucky dude right out of the gates.

Oh no. To get to the goodness of Walker you’ll need to go slow and get to know him a little better. What will be the best: is how much y’all have in common. Including your shared love of the sport he has dedicated his life to. You’ll both grow and go through some sh*t to get to your HEA but it will be all the more worth it when you arrive there. Plus he’s a book reader, and y’all if that ain’t the hottest god-damn thing in the universe.

Aiden Graves

Sport Played: Professional Football

I will preface this (much like my Rhys Winterbourne ranting) by saying that TWOWAM is one of my all time favourite books and comfort reads. Aiden almost didn’t get a spot on this list, gasp away but I felt (and feel) like he might be beyond a mere book boyfriend title. Even my husband (god bless him) teases me about my deep affection for him. So this is biased AF and I love him the most, deal with it.

Why does he make a good book boyfriend? Besides supporting your dreams, and throwing hands when you’re mistreated, he’s gonna be your best friend. He’ll always be there for you, and will make sure that you know that he loves you in all kinds of ways that might not be over the top. He’s consistent, and where you might rile him up a bit, he’s going to be a steady, sturdy calming presence in your life that you cannot live without. Plus he will give you all the massages after long workouts and really THAT sh*t is attractive as hell.

Cameron McGregor

Sport played: Professional and National Team Rugby

Rounding out the last of the sports romance BB’s is my man Cam who is a giant Scottish rugby star who I just ENJOY very very much. He’s a little cocky, and extremely self assured. Which isn’t a bad thing at all. He’s going to push your buttons, but really all that does is increase the simmering chemistry and sexual tension between the two of you. He will push you to continually step outside your comfort zone, and will show you with actions and words how much he’s into you. He will even love your cat (not a metaphor).

He will fight with you and for you and you’ll never EVER have to second guess where you stand with him. He’s a great teammate and an even better (maybe one of the best) book boyfriends out there.
