November Month in Review
I know I say this every month end, but holy f*ck it’s almost 2023. This was a big month, I caught a TERRIBLE non covid cold, that, as of the writing of this post, I am still trying to recover from. I started a bookstagram account (and have been having a lot fun there), I redid my blog logo and I’ve found a lot of creative joy, which has been lacking.
I’ve read a lot of really great books this month, and here we go…

Best of the Month
The Changeup by Megan Cousins (free with KU)
I will very calmly and completely normally without all caps, state without hyperbole that I love Megan’s romances. They always make me feel big feelings, and so very seen. Also she writes the most DREAMY book boyfriends, and her love of baseball is so apparent. Friends The Changeup is no different, and the Hutchinson fam is GOALS. 10/10 no notes.
Three Kings by Freydis Moon
Well well well if it isn’t the nordic folklore, witch-craft, trans male lead, polyamory, hot selkie COTTAGECORE delight of a romance. This was such a freaking soft and cozy romance. Please pick it up!
Come As You Are by Jess K Hardy (free with KU)
OH my good lord did I love this book. Ex rockstar, formerly incarcerated former addict and a perpetually over worked divorced woman fall in love while helping her save her family’s skill hill and lodge. Everyone deserves to have a Madigan in their lives. I loved him (and Ashley) and all the men of Little Timber. Also fuck Chuck forever.
Her Night With Santa by Adriana Herrera (free with KU)
Sometimes you just want to read some delicious Santa-themed erotica. And this is the PERFECT holiday treat.
The Governess Affair by Courtney Milan
Despite a heavier premise, the romance in this quick historical romance between an abused governess and a dukes fixer sparkles. The wit, connection, kindness and extremely satisfying comeuppance for the POS duke was a delight.
In Like Flynn by Lauren Smith
PIRATES. Deception. She rescues him. He sacrifices himself for her. She’s magnificent, he’s smitten. This is the perfect adventure romance that will sweep you away.
Scoundrel of My Heart by Lorraine Heath
I love a self-sacrificing 19th century ding dong. And Griff is EXACTLY that. I love Lorraine Heath and her bonkers plots and how easily I fall for the “omg how is this going turn out” feelings she invokes in me. Also my goodness the ROMANCE and swoons between Kathryn and Griff was so freaking satisfying.
Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love by isthisselfcare
I spent a lot of my youngish 20’s (easily 10+ years ago) very much on Tumblr. It introduced me to many things, and AU fics were absolutely one of them. This AU Harry Potter fic takes place 15 years after the war, and this brilliant #dramonie #idiotstolovers romance is up there with some of the best things I’ve read all year. The adventure, the humour, the slow-burn romance. This was it. Also I never bought her with Ron, not for one moment.
Also, absolutely fuck the source material author this fic is based on (rhymes with bowling) who is a TERF and HUGE piece of shit.
