ARC Review: Educated
Can you even believe it’s about to be August?! I definitely cannot - however what I very much CAN believe is that Nellie Wilson has written another fantastic contemporary romance. Educated, book two in her Museology series is coming our way August 8th and you guys, go put this on your TBRs right freaking now.
I’d like to thank Nellie for the advance copy, thoughts below are my own, enjoy!
From the very first moment we met Declan “McDaddy” McFadden and Phoebe in Curated, friends I was SOLD. Call me a tree because I was PINING for them. Thankfully Nellie has written them their very own happily ever after and my goodness what a HEA it was.
Listen, hot queer man with tattoos, helps shy bi-babe explore her sexuality is truly on another level and I LOVED every freaking minute these two shared. First we have (clearly type 2) Phoebe. Who is always the proverbial bridesmaid. She’s kind, competent, deeply supportive of the people in her life, and also wants so much to find her human (and even better if that human ends up being her favourite hot bartender).
And Declan. Delicious, delicious Declan. With the great hair, and the tattoos, and the crushing Catholic guilt™ — he’s doing his best, all while longing for our girl Phoebes FOR YEARS. YEARS people.
I love this world and the characters Nellie’s created. And in Educated we get all that and a little more. I enjoyed the intergenerational friendship with Joe (and his life university), the peeks into how our babies from Curated are doing, and my goodness the connection and chemistry between Dec and Phoebe. Iconic.
I saw so much of my own-self (and marriage) in how Phoebe and Dec grow through it (while seizing the day and setting boundaries). The care, vulnerability, and self expression we get from both of them is so tender, and beautiful and also so great. I might never stop thinking about how these two are like capital B BEST friends. And Phoebe putting idiots in their place on behalf of her man might be a new kink I didn’t even know I had.
This book is equal parts, soft, joyful, sexy and funny in a way that I think a lot of millennials are going to love. Seriously, y’all I had to stop reading for a bit to cackle over a very real Boondocks Saints reference that I swear to god came right out of my own dating history.
I loved this one and you should pick it up for:
I’ve loved you forever vibes
caretaking (both sexually and emotionally)
growing up and through things together
oh, I do have friends, wow
take my life, take my whole heart too
joe’s life university
CONSENT, in the literally hottest possible ways
bisexual disasters (affectionate)
Educated, really does it all and is hitting stores and shelves August 8th 2023. Grab it on pre-order now, add it to your TBRs, ask your libraries to order it in for you, you wont regret it.
