The Weekly Recap
This week felt both REALLY long and super short am I right? I had a couple REALLY brain heavy days at work, which really impacted my ability to focus on what I was trying to read. HOWEVER, I did manage to get through 3 of the 8 advance reader copies sitting on my Kindle, yes please hold your applause. After some light drama, Glow (book four of the Plated Prisoner series) DID end up on KU after all, and I can’t wait to dig into it ASAP. My Phillies are still hot AF and so much fun to watch. Alright enough about me, here’s what I dug into this week…
Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley (eARC)
Ex-reality contestant and current trust fund baby meets stern principal type baker and NFL star defensive end when they are forced to work together to keep her grandma, and his team owner happy. Loved this one, check the full review here.
Much Ado About Dukes by Eva Devon (eARC)
Female activist takes on a Duke, who actually has a huge crush on her, but keeps avoiding her like a CLOWN. Legitimate partnership between these two leads makes this one SO lovely. Check the full review here.
Never Rescue a Rogue by Virginia Heath (eARC)
Roasting you is my love language, but make it historical! Found family, non-sexual intimacy, nose kisses! This one has it all. Check the full review here.
Breathless by Lex Martin
Book three in the Texas Nights series, is between childhood and long time BFFs Joey and Logan. (As documented, gestures vaguely around) I am basic AF and loved books 1 & 2 so I went into this one expecting the same and friends this one, let me down! I wanted to love this and was left wanting more.
The Dachshund Wears Prada by Stefanie London
I read Annika Martin’s Most Elligible Bastard and after reading the blurb I expected this to be a retelling of that story: reclusive billionaire, snarky dog, down on her luck woman who is responsible for her younger sister. While yes there are some similarities I gotta say I really like this one, and laughed out loud a more than a few times, but really eye rolled through the 3rd act break-up/make-up.
Little Dancer by Brianna Hale
I read Brianna Hale last year (or maybe this year?) and really liked it, this one felt yucky for me, almost right from the get go and felt just on the wrong side of coercion between the Dd and Lg, which bummed me tf out, because I love a great DdLg romance.
The Navy Seal’s Email Order Bride by Cora Seton
Oof, this man does not give oral. I feel like that’s all you need to know about this romance.
